Flooded Basement

What if your flooded basement represents something more that the irritating inconvenience it appears to be?

In my popular Spirit Signs workshop your house actually represents you.

The basement represents your past; the physical and emotional foundation upon which your subconscious beliefs rest.  Problems in the basement indicate that issues in your belief system could be creating bigger problems in your present and future.

Flooding represents emotional turmoil, usually as a result of denying or hiding your emotional truth. When your basement becomes flooded with water, it represents emotional turmoil that will cause you or someone else to challenge your belief system.

Perhaps the clues about which beliefs may be creating the problem may expose themselves during the clean up. Stressful situations can bring out the worst in us and put cracks in the masks that we place over our true feelings. I heard someone say once "How you do one thing is how you do everything." So how you saw and dealt with the issue of the basement flooding is how you are dealing with everything else that is going on in your life.

I have only had one basement flood...but it was at a super inconvenient time. My sister, Anita and my three nephews scheduled to arrive from Winnipeg for a week long visit. It took two days to ready the space in the basement so all the cousins could sleep in the basement. The night before they arrived, a sudden downpour filled both window wells and in no time there was three inches of standing water. If memory serves correctly, my immediate reaction was to start crying and wordlessly leave the basement. In that moment I truly felt like everything I did fell apart or was ruined by forces outside of my control. That sounds like how I was dealing with many things back then. I wasn't dealing with them at all.  My limiting belief was connected to "not making waves" and trying to keep everyone happy at all costs without ever looking at what it was that I really wanted.

So if you have been dealing with a leaky basement, take heart. It is an opportunity for you to see beliefs or attitudes that could use some changing...and change them! It all gets better from here!

  2. For instance, how much water was engaged with the flooding episode? Was the water generally perfect or would it say it was polluted with sewage, chemicals, or different poisons? flooded basement repair
